The Willowwood Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) educational organization, established to nurture an appreciation for and knowledge of botany, horticulture and the natural world.

The Foundation supports restoration and garden projects as well as seasonal events at the Willowwood Arboretum. It also contributes grant monies to the Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania for plant propagation and international seed collection trips. These trips provide exotic seeds and plants which are added to Willowwood's vast collection.
The Foundation supports public education, the publication of and access to literature relating to plant science, and the development of facilities.
Robert and Henry Tubbs purchased Willowwood in 1908 as the realization of their gardening passion and desire for a living plant laboratory. Since 1960, the Foundation, along with Tubbs’ successors Dr. Ben Blackburn and Russ Myers, continued to develop and increase knowledge about native and exotic plants, seed collection, and propagation. Today, the Willowwood Arboretum is filled with living collections of rare and unusual plants and herbaria.
The awakening of beautiful lilac blooms and spring gardens herald the end of winter. The annual May "Lilac Party" features food, drink, wine tastings, music and a silent auction. The Lilac Party is held annually on the third Sunday in May. Please join us!
